Stage 15 of the C&M trail is a curious one, zig-zagging across the hills north of Brno. There are some interesting sites to visit, but they require some extra effort.

The Cyril & Methodius trail, stage 17: from Křtiny to Rousínov – 19 km (extendable)
Stage 17 of the C&M trail is one of the easier on the route. Apart from spectacular Křtiny, there are few highlights to see – so a tranquil stage to recover some energy perhaps!

Stage 16 is one of the best – and shortest – in the long distance C&M tour. It is centred on the Josefovská valley, one of the most important sites for the world-famous Moravian limestone caves.

The Josefovská valley is one of the most interesting in the Moravian limestone region, packed full of famous caves just waiting to be explored. The trail ends at the majestic Křtiny basilica.
A visit to Rájec-Jestřebí, with its unique chateau and park area: 4 km
If travelling around the Moravský kras area, it is worth stopping for a short visit to the historic town of Rájec, whose chateau is a very rare (at least for Moravia) expression of French-style Baroque architecture.
A visit to the beautifully restored South Moravian chateau in Letovice: 4 km
Overlooking the Svitava river, 40 km to the north of Brno, one of the region’s most impressive Baroque chateaux stands on a hill, surrounded by an English style park. Letovice is well worth a quick visit!
A short visit to Blansko, with its lovely chateau and museum: 2 km
Blansko, located 20 km from Brno, features a Renaissance chateau and museum, showcasing archaeological exhibitions. The town is revitalizing after industrial decline, making it a charming short visit destination.
Circular routes around the forest and limestone quarries in Brno’s Hády nature reserve: 3 km to 12 km
There are many attractive walking routes in the Hády nature reserve, close to Brno. The route described on this page includes visits to a viewing tower, medieval ruin and limestone quarries.
A circular route to the U Lidušky lookout tower from Bílovice nad Svitavou, near Brno: 5 km
For an easy walk in the Hády forest close to Brno, try the circular route to the 29m U Lidušky lookout tower starting and finishing at the Bílovice nad Svitavou train station.

A short walk along Josefovská valley to the Býčí skála cave : 3 km
The scenic Josefovská valley which starts at Adamov, is lined with many caves, old Ironworks and furnaces. The most famous cave is Býčí skála, one of the most important archaeological sites in Moravia.
Macocha sinkhole and the Punkva valley: 5 km to 9 km circular tours from Skalní Mlýn
This classic Moravský kras walk traverses the scenic Punkva river valley, passing the famous Punkva limestone caves and the viewpoints down into the Macocha sinkhole – the deepest in Central Europe.
Kateřinská jeskyně and the gorges of Suchý Žleb – an easy walk from Skalní Mlýn: up to 7 km
This easy walk on an asphalt cycle path traverses the scenic gorges of Suchý Žleb canyon which is lined with numerous limestone caves, including the famous Catherine cave.
