A short visit to Blansko, with its lovely chateau and museum: 2 km

  • The town of Blansko, situated 20 km to the north of Brno in south Moravia, has a long history dating back to early medieval times, but became an important industrial center in the 19th century. Many businesses did not survive the fall of Communism and the town is now being revitalized. Blansko does have a superb Renaissance chateau housing the town museum, featuring an interesting archaeological exhibition, which is well worth a visit.
  • The chateau is less than 1 km from the Blansko město train station, and the easy walk can be managed with a stroller. Consider a stop at the Bibistro restaurant (map point 4), a Hejlík recommendation, on the way back. The Baroque Church of Saint Martin near the station is also worth a visit.
