A visit to Rájec-Jestřebí, with its unique chateau and park area: 4 km

  • If travelling around the Moravský kras limestone area, it is worth stopping for a short visit to the historic town of Rájec-Jestřebí (originally simply Rájec), which dates back to Slavic times. The most notable feature of the town, however, is more recent. The famous chateau was built in the 18th century and is unique (at least for Moravia) expression of French-style Baroque architecture. The chateau is now State owned and is open for tours in the summer months. The gardens and park area are also worth a visit.
  • Another highlight of Rájec-Jestřebí is a visit to the brewery restaurant, Pivnice Kopeček, serving good food and beer. If driving, there is parking directly at the chateau. If travelling by train, the station is on main-line route from Brno, but is over 1 km from the center of town. The route shown in the map below can be managed with a stroller.
