An easy 3 km walk around a jewel of the Vysočina region – Pelhřimov
- Pelhřimov may not be the first name on the list of places to visit in the Vysočina region, which is blessed with many lovely sites. However, the town center is one of the most striking in the region, with superb Renaissance and Baroque architecture. The view from the tower of St Bartholomew’s church is reminiscent of much more famous Italian towns.
- The town square is a short walk from the main bus station, if travelling by public transport, and for drivers there are various small parking areas close to the center. The route from the bus station passes a couple of nice ‘retro’ cafés which are worth investigating, including the Café Na Kolíbce. These are close to the upper gateway, which dates from the 16th century.
- In the main square, take a moment to climb the staircase in the St Bartholomew church tower for a spectacular view over the town. There is also a small park area behind the square which, rather curiously, includes a parrot aviary.
- The total walk from the bus station and back is less than 3 km, is almost flat and is suitable for strollers. There are several refreshment options in town, not least the cafés mentioned above.
