*The Vinořský park nature trail, starting at Satalice in NE Prague: 6 km (extendable)*

  • Vinořský park is a small but interesting natural park area on the outskirts of northeast Prague. It is well worth a visit. The park was established by a branch of the ancient aristocratic Czernín family in the 18th century and it developed into a hunting area with a connected pheasantry in the the village of Satalice. The estate was managed from the Baroque chateau in Vinoř (no longer accessible to the public).
  • The marked nature trail starts in Satalice and passes through the pheasantry, following attractive tree avenues, passing a number of fish ponds and sculpted sandstone cliffs to finish in Vinoř. A nice option is to extend the walk to reach the chateau at Ctěnice, where there is a nice bistro and a castle restaurant.
  • A further circuit exploring the area around Ctěnice may be added to extend the walk further (by up to 10 km). The landscape around Vinoř-Ctěnice is one of the richest prehistoric areas in Bohemia. The highlights are discussed on the separate walk page.
  • The one way 6 km route is from Satalice and finishes at Ctěnice chateau (both have bus connections to Prague metro stations) . The trail is manageable with a stroller and is almost flat. In addition to the restaurants in Ctěnice chateau, there are various options in Vinoř village, including a nice café on the main street (map point 5).
