A short walk around the UNESCO World Heritage listed Holašovice village: 1 km

  • Holašovice village is known for having a unique collection of late 19th century farmhouses showcasing the ‘folk Baroque’ style of architecture. Despite the Baroque period having long passed, the style draws inspiration from the older period to create a homogenous and picturesque series of Baroque-style farmsteads, lining the rectangular village centre. Holašovice was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1998 due to its uniquely well-preserved architecture.
  • The village has a medieval origin, and the design of the square with overlapping houses had a protective nature, allowing livestock to be secured in the village center during the night, safe from predators.
  • The walk around the village square is very short – it will take less than ten minutes! If desired the walk can be extended by making a loop of around 6 km in the forested hills to the south of the village. For refreshments try the Špejchar u Vojty restraurant on the main square, serving interesting local dishes.
