The east Bohemian spa, Lázně Bělohrad, may lack the grandeur of the west Bohemian spas, but the countryside is equally attractive. There are a couple of nature trails which are worth investigating.
A walk in the forest area near Ostroměř, noted for its prehistoric and early medieval sites: 12 km
The hilly ridges bordering the northeast part of the Labe river plain are full of important archaeological sites – and also offer attractive forest walking routes. Try this one near the town of Ostroměř.

Hořice is probably best known to Czechs today as the home of the famous ‘hořické trubičky’. However, the town has some other claims to fame and is worth exploring, even by those without a sweet tooth!
Circuits in the low hills north of Nová Paka, with a visit to Hradiště Levín: 8 km to 13 km
Most people know Nová Paka simply as a gateway to the Krkonoše mountains, but it is worth stopping for a while in this historic town. There are some nice gentle trails in the surrounding hills.

Combine a visit to Pecka, with its fine Baroque monuments and intriguing Gothic/Renaissance castle, with an easy circular walk in the surrounding foothills for some super views.
A quick stop to view the chateau and English park at Kopidlno: 1 km
If travelling between Jičín and Poděbrady, consider a quick stop in Kopidlno, for a short walk around the English park next to the interesting neo-Renaissance chateau.
The Sýkornice nature trail, just outside Nová Paka in the Krkonoše foothills: 5 km
The new Sýkornice educational trail has some interesting information boards in the mostly forested nature park. It is a good option for a short walk when the weather in the mountains is poor.
A short walk around the Chateau Resort of Dětenice – 2 km
Dětenice’s medieval themed events may not be to everyone’s taste, but the late Baroque chateau is undoubtedly impressive and the grounds worth exploring especially on quiet days.
Jičín’s volcanos and viewpoints; 8 km or 16 km tours, including a stop at Veliš
Tour the volcanic hills and viewpoints surrounding the attractive town of Jičín (seat of the famous Albrecht of Valdštejn), with optional extensions to Veliš, Brada and the Přivýšina viewpoint.
