A circuit around the Radeč ridge and the highest points in the Křivoklátsko hills: 15 km
- This is an alternative version of the walk along the Radeč (721m) ridge in the Křivoklátsko hills, which was previously walked in winter time (see here, for the write up). This time, the start and finish is in the attractive village of Lhota pod Radčem, rather than the neighboring village of Těškov. It visits the same viewpoints as the winter walk, which are the highest in the Protected Landscape Area and some of the finest in the region.
- The first viewpoint visited is the site of a 14th century fortress, Hrad na Radči, which also has one of the best viewpoints in the area. After walking along the ridge past the highest points, there is a highly recommended diversion to the ancient fortified site (and viewpoint) of Bílá skála (featured in the header photo).
- The return route follows some of the many forest roads in these hills. Most are unmarked, but with a good map (or use of the mapy.com phone application) circular routes of various lengths can be created. The forest in this section of hills is surprisingly varied and extremely attractive, especially in mid summer and autumn.
- None of the paths on the route are steep, but this is route would be slightly more challenging in winter than the route from Těškov, so is only recommended from Spring to Autumn. The total height gained/lost on the proposed 15 km route is 320m. There are no refreshment options directly on the route, so take a picnic to enjoy on one of the viewpoints!
