*Walks along the Ohře river between the historic towns of Klášterec and Kadaň: 10 km to 14 km*
- The historic towns of Klášterec and Kadaň are situated on the banks of the river Ohře in northwest Bohemia, separated by just 8 km of meandering river. Both pretty towns are are worth taking the time to fully explore (the links on the town names go to routes in and near the two towns).
- The best way to connect the towns on a walking trip is (perhaps surprisingly) to walk along the cycle path that follows the river closely in this part of the country. It is a mostly asphalt track, which some walkers may find off-putting, but the views are good and there are some undulations for variety!
- There are good public transport connections between the towns, which mean the route can be done as a one-way trip in either direction. the train stations are a little way outside both towns – use of local buses reduces the direct walk to around 10 km.
- There are various good refreshment options in both towns. In Klášterec, try the atmospheric Café Kelly just next to the Holy Trinity Church in the town center (map point 12) or Café Korek, near the bus station (map point 13). The latter is a Hejlík recommendation. In the summer months consider stopping at the pub Vyhlídka (map point 7) in Rašovice, half way between the tow towns.
- In Kadaň, there are several restaurants in on near the main square, or try the terrace at Střelnice restaurant (map point 5). Finally, in the summer months there is a snack bar next to the Split hotel (map point 6) serving excellent local beer!

Directions
- The route is straight forward once the river is reached from either town – simply follow the cycle path marked 6
- As it is possible to start the walk from either from the bus or train stations, directions are not given here to the river, as most visitors will want to stop off in one or both towns to explore the center or visit the chateau/castle areas before heading down or upstream along the cycle path
