A trip to see the Nebílovy chateau, including a loop around the village nature trail: 5 km
- The village of Nebílovy is located approximately 16 km to the south of Plzeň and is known for its unusual High Baroque chateau, modelled in a Viennese style by the court architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt in 1706. The chateau comprises two (now unconnected) wings, of which one has been reconstructed. Guided tours of the interior are available from May to September and are particularly interesting to see how the reconstruction is progressing.
- The chateau gardens, occupied by a couple of friendly peacocks, are also gradually being reconstructed. For a walk in the area that can be combined with the visit to the chateau, consider the village nature trail which makes a 5 km loop to the north and west of the village. The trail visits a couple of Baroque churches in the slightly hilly attractive open countryside.
- The trail is on a mix of easy footpaths and some asphalt country roads. There is 130m of height to ascend-descend. For refreshments, try the café in the chateau courtyard (only open at the same time as tours).
