A short countryside walk from the Kvasetice chateau hotel/restaurant: 5 km

  • Kvasetice chateau is located just off the main road between Humpolec and Havlíčkův Brod in the Vysočina region. The chateau was completed in 1864 in a neo-Gothic style in 1864 and owned by the Schmidt family until the estate was nationalized in 1948. The chateau was then used as a school until the 1970’s, but for nearly fifty years was allowed to crumble into a ruined state. Then, in 2016, local entrepreneurs Dana and Lubomír Dvořák, acquired the ruin and embarked on an ambitious program of renovation.
  • Ten years later, Kvasetice chateau has been transformed into a lovely boutique hotel, including a stylish restaurant open to the general public. The renovations continue and it will be fascinating to watch how the estate gradually recaptures the magic of the late 19th century, and balances this with the demands of the modern guest.
  • For those staying or eating at this wonderful new hotel, here is a suggestion for a short (less than 6 km) walk in the attractive surrounding countryside. The walk is on a mix of quiet country roads and footpaths in the meadows. It is an essentially flat route.
