A circuit around the Brdy summits of Třemšín and Nad Maráskem starting at Chynín: 21 km
- Třemšín is probably the most interesting of all the 800m peaks in the Brdy range – the so called ‘brdské osmistovky‘. Firstly, it actually offers some views over the wider Brdy range, from its rocky summit. Secondly, the fragments of an intriguing medieval fortress ring the summit area.
- The summit was first fortified in the 10th century and the subsequent Gothic castle was burnt down by the Hussites in 1424. It was left to crumble over the following 800 years. Both the castle and Třemšín hill itself have an interesting history and legends attached to them.
- The ascent of Třemšín can be combined a visit to a second interesting Brdy 800m mountain, Nad Maráskem, which also has a (partial) view from its rocky summit area – unless of course it is a foggy day!
- The closest access point for a combined visit to these two peaks is the village of Chynín, on the southern edge of the Brdy range. The village is on a local bus route and also has a small free parking area. It is approximately 8 km to the summit of Třemšín from Chynín.
- The total route visiting both peaks is 20.7 km long, with 380m of height to ascend-descend. The summit area of Třemšín is steeper than most Brdy peaks, but none of the paths are particularly difficult. The route can be managed in wintertime if the snow cover is light. There are no refreshment options on the route or in Chynín, so take sufficient supplies for the full journey.
