*A visit to vyhlídka Máj (and related viewpoints) starting in Třebsín: 9 km*
- There are many spectacular viewpoints along the twisting Vltava river, south of Prague. Several overlook the Štěchovice and Slapy reservoirs. By far the most famous, most visited and definitely most photographed of which is vyhlídka Máj. Arguably just as scenic (but much less popular), two further viewpoints are found just a few hundred meters along the trail below Máj. It is definitely worth visiting all three – some people actually prefer the other two to Máj!
- The fastest way to reach the Máj viewpoint is to park just outside the village of Teletín and take the gently rising 1 km path across the meadow, returning on the same route. It is usually a busy trail. The small car park is often full at weekends/holiday periods and there might be quite a crowd on the meadow footpath.
- A much longer and certainly more adventurous route, is to start from the Slapy dam below the village of Třebenice. This challenging 17 km route is described on a separate page.
- A compromise route is the undulating 9 km tour which starts in the village of Třebsín, situated on the broad peninsular created by the Vltava and Sázava rivers, shortly before they merge together. This is the route described below. Třebsín has a nice 18th century bell tower, next to the local pub, which is named after the tower.
- The route from Třebsín drops into a steep-sided valley created by one of the many streams flowing into the Vltava, before climbing back up to visit the three viewpoints. The footpath is relatively steep in a couple of places, but not dangerous or exposed. The viewpoints themselves are unprotected and care is needed, especially if conditions are icy or if visiting the viewpoints with children.
- The overall height to be ascended/descended on the 9 km route is 390m. Refreshments are available in the Zvonička pub and occasionally on warm weekends at a farm building near the three viewpoints (marked as map point 6).

Directions (note – some of this route is away from marked trails, so is best followed using the mapy.cz phone application)
- Start the village of Třebsín (there are usually parking spots near the bell tower). If travelling by bus, the nearest stop on the Štěchovice-Benešov line is 500m outside the village, directly on the walking route – map point 2
- From the belltower, take the YELLOW trail in the direction of Teletín, crossing the main road after 500m and then descending steeply into the valley created by the Krnanský stream
- Cross the stream and climb the opposite bank for 600m on the YELLOW trail
- At the point that the YELLOW trail takes a sharp elbow turn to the left, leave the YELLOW trail and continue on the wide track passing a couple of forest cottages
- After 400m, branch left on the footpath leading uphill to reach the first viewpoint (Myšák) after 900m
- Continue 150m on the forest footpath to pass the farm building on its right (this is the refreshment spot on summer weekends)
- Continue a further 140m to reach the second viewpoint (Mařenka)
- From Mařenka, continue uphill for 200m to reach Máj viewpoint
- From the Máj viewpoint follow the main trail for 900m across the meadow, to rejoin the YELLOW trail
- Turn left onto the YELLOW trail and follow this for 4.5 km to return back to Třebsín village
