A short walk in the forested landscape near the spa chateau of Vráž: 6 km

  • The neo-Gothic chateau in Vráž was built by the Lobkowicz family towards the end of the 19th century as a hunting residence but became a spa hotel in the early 20th century. It remains so, today. The interesting chateau has a small English-style park area and a restaurant that is open to the public. It is worth a quick stop if in the area and a visit to the spa can be combined with a short walk along one of several marked nature trails.
  • There are a number of marked trails starting at the spa, mostly in the mixed forests that border the Otava river. One of the nicer trails is a 5 km loop around the Čertova hora nature reserve, with its attractive mixed woodland of mostly oak, linden and beech trees. This is the route marked on the map below.
  • The Čertova hora trail is mostly on forest roads and woodland footpaths which can be a little overgrown at times during the walking season, but the 5 km route is not difficult and has around 100m of height to ascend and descend. The walk around the spa park area is not extensive and will add up one km to the overall walk.
