*From Třešť to Telč, via the hunting castle of Roštejn – a 17 km hike*
- The UNESCO World Heritage site of Telč is an obvious destination when touring the Vysočina region and there are various short walks available if travelling directly to this beautiful town. See the separate Telč walk page for one suggestion.
- If wanting a longer hike which ends in the majestic town square in Telč, try the one way walk starting in the nearby town of Třešť, which is connected by train line with Telč (providing an option for the return journey). The route passes by the striking 14th century castle of Roštejn. The needle-like Gothic tower pierces the forest canopy and the ascent (requiring a small fee) is worthwhile for the superb 360 degrees views of the Vysočina landscape. The Gothic-Renaissance main buildings may also be toured with a guide.
- Třešť is also of some interest, boasting a picturesque reconstructed Renaissance chateau, which now houses a hotel. However, the main event is of course Telč, with its stunning Renaissance architecture surrounded by a series of fishponds.
- The suggested route (between the two train stations) follows easy footpaths through lovely Vysočina meadow and forest scenery and is 17 km long with just over 200m of ascent.
- There are various refreshment options on the route, including a pub in the Roštejn castle courtyard. In Telč, try the elegant café in the university and Jesuit college complex opposite the chateau or the Bistro café friends on Paláckého street. For nice ice cream, there is a specialist shop, the Cukrána Jadran, at the opposite end of the square from the chateau.

Directions
- Starting at Třešť train station, join the BLUE hiking trail and head in the direction of Roštejn. The castle is reached after 6.7 km
- After exploring the castle, continue on the YELLOW trail in the direction of Telč
- This trail leads directly to the main square of Telč, which is reached after 9.2 km
- from the square, it is a further 1.1 km to the train station, still following the YELLOW trail markings
