Zbiroh castle, set in the lovely Křivoklátsko nature area, is definitely worth a visit. After a chateau tour take the time to walk around thew park and visit the ‘medieval’ restaurant.

There are some fine circuits in the forested Křivoklátsko hills on the left bank of the river Berounka near Nižbor. Most walks pass through the village of Chyňava, which has an excellent minizoo.

Krakovec is a rare late Gothic castle built primarily for residential rather than defensive purposes. It therefore looks more like a ruined chateau. Tour the attractive countryside nearby on this easy walk.
