*A short walk to the České středohoří summit of Ostrý (553m) from Kocourov restaurant: 3 km*
- Ostrý (533m), which is topped with a 15th century medieval castle ruin, is one of the easier volcanic peaks in České středohoří to ascend, but the views are still magnificent, and the start/finish is at a very nice country restaurant. For those wanting to experience this wonderful landscape without a super steep ascent or a long approach, this is a great choice! There are also some interesting volcanic rock formations on the summit.
- The small but striking peaks in České středohoří were created when channels of lava which burst through layers of sandstone rock some 20-30 million years ago producing a picturesque volcanic landscape of conical mountains that are unique in Central Europe.
- The starting point for the ascent of Ostrý is the excellent restaurant Kocourov, situated in the village of the same name. The restaurant has a nice terrace area which can get very busy on warm summer weekends. There is a parking area opposite the restaurant and the village is on a bus route from Lovosice.
- The path to the summit is not particularly steep – there is just 130m of height to ascend and descend on the route. There are steps on the final section.
