Walks through the Stará a Nová Řeka nature reserve, the ‘heart of Třeboňsko’ – 5 km to 15 km
- The river Lužnice flows through the center the protected landscape area of Třeboňsko in southeast Bohemia. Over several centuries the course of the river has been influenced by the development of the marsh and wetland area into an extraordinary complex of fishponds, most notably during the 16th century when the region was controlled by the aristocratic Rožmberk family.
- The area has four national nature reserves, which protect a huge variety of wetland flora and fauna. The most well known of these is the Stará a Nová řeka reserve, which follows course of the diverted Lužnice river. A flat and well maintained trail runs beside the Nová řeka (‘new river’) and provides an opportunity to experience this unusual landscape on an easy walk.
- If traveling by public transport, the trail is best started near the village of Stříbřec, which is on a bus route from . Alternatively, if driving there is a car park just off the main road 5 km to the southeast of Třeboň, which is a convenient spot to start the walk. The walk from the car park to the bridge near Stříbřec is around 7 km long and is completely flat and suitable for walkers with strollers. It is also a popular bike route, particularly in summer.
- Creating a circular route involves quite a substantial walk, so unless wanting a longer hike, it is best to retrace the route after walking the desired amount. Near the bridge near Stříbřec is a popular restaurant U Emy Destinnové for refreshments. The walk from the car park to the restaurant and back again is 14.7 km long.
- Note – during the warmer months many sections of the trail are also enjoyed by swarms of mosquitoes (as with many of the wetland areas in Třeboňsko) . Come prepared, or only consider visiting during the cooler months!

Directions
- Starting at the U splavů car park on the 24 main road, some 5 km south east of Třeboň, follow the GREEN hiking trail for 1.7 km to reach the junction of U Dlouhého mostu
- At U Dlouhého mostu, turn left onto the RED trail and follow this for 5.3km to reach the Stříbřecký most junction (at the bridge)
- If wanting to visit the restaurant, cross the bridge and follow the road for 400m to reach the restaurant
- Return back on the same paths
