The climb to Lysá Hora (1323m) from Ostravice train stain -16 km

  • This classic hike to the top of Lysá Hora (1323m), which is the highest mountain in Beskydy, starts at the closest available public transport hub, the village of Ostravice. Lysá Hora peak is one of the windiest and wettest places in the country so come equipped for all weathers!
  • The climb from Ostravice station is some 890m, and if taken as a circular route as shown on the map is 16.5km long. The section along the road from Ostravice to Mazák can be skipped by taking the bus, if desired. None of the paths are particularly difficult, but the final section to the summit through the forest is relatively steep so care is required when wet, particularly on the descent.
  • There are two welcoming huts on the summit, of which the Bezručova chata is probably the nicest option. Back in Ostravice, there are a range of options, but Vagonek, 5 minutes walk from the train station comes recommended.
