*The 2.5 km Kyjov trail – a unique České Švýcarsko rock route near Krásná Lípa*
- The eastern side of the České Švýcarsko national park area is much quieter than the more famous western areas around Děčín. However, there are still some outstanding sandstone rock formations to discover on the less famous side. The interesting town of Krásná Lípa is a good base for explore this side of the park and a nice full day tour of some of the highlights is described here.
- One of the highlights visited on the longer trip is the Kyjov nature trail through a classic sandstone rock labyrinth (sometimes called ‘rock towns’). Kyjov can be visited as short standalone trip and a short description of the route is given below.
- The route, although short (the labyrinth trail itself is less than 1 km long), involves a number of steep ladder sections as well as squeezing through some quite narrow cracks in the rock. It is therefore quite a challenging route – there are also a couple of viewpoints on rocks that are not fully protected. The route finishes with an easy section along the Křinice stream valley finishing back near the the bus stop-car park.
- The route is just 2.5 km long and involves 130m of climbing, mostly on steep steps. The hamlet of Kyjov can be reached by bus from Krásná Lípa and Děčín. There is also a small free car park next to the bus stop. For refreshments , there is a a snack bar-restaurant on the corner, 90m from the bus stop.
