An easy 5km walk around Kunratice, with an optional extension to Kunratický forest

• Kunratice is a residential district at the south east edge of Prague. It is worth visiting to see the reconstructed courtyard of the Baroque chateau, which has an attractive café in one corner. Opposite the courtyard area is a stall of the excellent Šabátovo ice cream company.
• To justify a stop at one or both of these establishments, take a short stroll around the Kuntratice area, including a possible visit to the Šeberák swimming area (which itself has an attractive lakeside restaurant).
• A suggested 5 km circular route around Kuntratice, visits the small chateau park area, passes Šeberák pond and then follows the Kunratický stream before circling back to the chateau courtyard. The paths are navigable with a stroller – there are just a couple of short forest sections which can be muddy in wet weather. The route is essentially flat with only 30m of height gained-lost.
• To create a longer walk, add in a circle around the nearby forest area of Kunratický les. This separate walk (of up to 9km) is described here.

Directions

• Start the walk at the Kunratice chateau courtyard area. If driving, there is extensive parking inside the courtyard (first 3 hours are free). If travelling by public transport, take a bus from Háje metro to the Kunratická škola stop
• From the courtyard take the YELLOW trail in the direction of Kunratice – zámecký park (stopping to visit the small public park area on the right side if desired)
• At the Kunratice – zámecký park trail junction turn onto the GREEN trail in the direction of Šeberák
• Šeberák pond is reached after 800m – if desired divert to visit the terrace restaurant and swimming area, with its grassy banks
• From Šeberák pond, follow the GREEN trail along the stream, passing two fish ponds, to reach the Dolnomlýnský rybník trail junction
• At Dolnomlýnský rybník, there is an option to divert to visit Kunratický les (with its ruined medieval castle and extensive forest area). See the separate walk page for directions
• From Dolnomlýnský rybník return to Kunratice main street in 900m, following the YELLOW trail (note – the Šabátovo ice cream stall is on the left before crossing the road, next to the flower shop)
