A 10 km walk around Komárovský lake and the Příhrazské skály

  • An interesting walk on mostly flat and easy paths, starting in Nová Ves , passing through the attractive Komárov rock formations, the village of Srbsko, the southern section of the Příhrazské skály and finishing on the shores of the Komárovský lake
  • Total walk length is 9.9 km, with 90m of height gained/lost
  • There is an optional 5.4 km (there and back) extension to visit the castle of Kost
  • The main walk is navigable with a baby stroller by taking a shorter return route along a quiet road after Srbsko
  • Refreshments may be available in Nová Ves, or at Kost, if the extension is taken.

“Komárovský lake is very attractively situated between two sandstone rock formations. It is one of the most scenic of the larger ponds and this easy and relatively flat walk circles around it, dipping into the southern section of the Příhrazské rocks for a short segment. After the walk a dip into the lake might also be possible!”

Directions

  • Start and finish at Nová Ves. The map shows a parking area at the end of the village, but this is now very small after construction of a building in most of the area. Parking should also be possible on the side of the road heading into the forested area (along the walking route, GREEN trail)
  • From the parking area, take the GREEN trail (direction Chrby) for 3km through the attractive Komárov rocks
  • At the Chrby signpost, turn left onto the RED trail (direction Srbsko). Note: there is an option here to divert to visit Kost castle by turning right on the easy RED trail right for 2.7m, returning to Chrby via the same path)
  • Follow the RED trail for 1.1km along the road through the village of Srbsko. At this point the RED trail leaves the road, turning right immediately after the last building. Take this path [Note: walkers with baby strollers will need to continue along the road and not take the RED trail. After 1.9 km reach the YELLOW trail, which is back on the main route]
  • Follow the RED trail for 2.2km until reaching a broad track branching left, up an incline (no signpost). Take this track (heading west). After 100m on this track, join the BLUE trail
  • Follow the BLUE trail heading west for 0.9 km until reaching the signpost of Černá louže . At the signpost turn left along the YELLOW trail
  • After 800m reach the main road [walkers with baby strollers will rejoin the main route here]
  • Continue along the main road on the YELLOW trail for 500m until reaching the side road for the campsite. Turn down this side road, past the camp, and join the path along the lake shore
  • Continue along the lakeshore for 300m and then rejoin the GREEN trail close to the Nová Ves parking area
  • For refreshments in Nová Ves, one option is the restaurant Černá Louže located approximately 500m from the parking area (signposts in the village)
