A 5 km tour around the Jeseníky spa town of Velké Losiny
- Visitors to the Jeseníky mountain area often approach the region by travelling through the spa town of Velké Losiny, which lies on the southwestern edge of the range . It is definitely worth a stop for an easy walk around the main sites in this historical town.
- The spa itself is known for its sulphur springs which were first written about at the end of the 16th century around the time that the ancient Moravian Žerotín family reconstructed the old Gothic castle and created a Renaissance chateau which has been beautifully preserved over the intervening centuries. The chateau’s Renaissance interiors are remarkable and definitely worth visiting.
- The Žerotín family also founded a paper mill in the town at the end of the 16th century. The mill, which is the oldest in Central Europe, is still in operation. The unique handmade paper from Velké Losiny is still used for important state correspondence. The Renaissance mill houses an interesting museum and there are tours available highlighting the history of paper making.
- The walk from the spa area to the chateau and back again, with a short circuit in the chateau garden, is around 5 km in length. The route passes directly behind the paper mill. The paths are flat and manageable with a stroller. There are various refreshment options in town including a nice café in the chateau (not currently marked on mapy.cz).

Directions
- If starting at the spa area (which has a large car park) the spa gardens are worth a short circuit and then join the GREEN hiking trail in the direction of the chateau (ZÁM on the trail signposts). The chateau is around 2 km from the spa entrance
- Mid way along this route (map point 4) a footbridge crosses the stream and the path leads to the paper mill , which faces the main road
- Continue on the GREEN trail to the chateau. The gardens are small but attractive and worth a short stroll around. If the weather is good try the café terrace at the chateau
- Return back to the spa car park on the same trail. Note – if traveling by train there are several stops. Probably the best option is to disembark at the Zámek stop and walk the suggested route in reverse.
