*Winter walks from Modrava, beside the Roklanský and Modravský streams: 5 km to 16 km*
Modrava is a good base in winter not just for cross-country skiing, but also for winter walks. The trails along the Roklanský and Modravský streams are some of the nicest in the region.

The new visitor center in the reconstructed Tři Trubky hunting lodge is definitely worth a visit. The 3 km forest trail beside the Klabava river up leading to the center is also super!

An easy circuit around the disappeared Brdy township of Kolvín: 14 km
A stroller-friendly circuit around Kolvín on country roads and bike tracks with classic Brdy views and villages, some disappeared, some just coming back to life after the opening of the area.

An easy circuit in the Bronze Age landscape south of Kladno in Central Bohemia: 11 km
This attractive but easy circular route near Kladno visits some important Bronze Age barrows, a modern viewing tower, and traverses some scenic Džbán reserve forests.

A circular riverside walk near Davle, at the confluence of the Vltava and Sázava rivers: 9 km
Davle is a good starting point for scenic walks along both the Sázava and Vltava rivers, with good train connections and a famous Greek restaurant! This is one of the easier circuits.

A short visit to the important Vysočina town of Velké Meziříčí: 3 km
Velké Meziříčí has a remarkable chateau complex and is well worth visiting. Visitors should also explore the scenic chateau park, climb the clock tower and maybe stop in the Harrach microbrewery!

A brilliant collection of larger-than-life wooden figures from fairytales and myths line the short trail around the picturesque Pardoubek pond in the spa town of Lázně Bělohrad.

*A varied circuit around the spa area and countryside near Lázně Bělohrad: 8 km*
The east Bohemian spa, Lázně Bělohrad, may lack the grandeur of the west Bohemian spas, but the countryside is equally attractive. There are a couple of nature trails which are worth investigating.

A walk in the forest area near Ostroměř, noted for its prehistoric and early medieval sites: 12 km
The hilly ridges bordering the northeast part of the Labe river plain are full of important archaeological sites - and also offer attractive forest walking routes. Try this one near the town of Ostroměř.

*A visit to the historic town of Hořice (home to one of Bohemia's most famous sweets): 2 km to 7 km*
Hořice is probably best known to Czechs today as the home of the famous 'hořické trubičky'. However, the town has some other claims to fame and is worth exploring, even by those without a sweet tooth!

*A short walk along the Velký Špičák educational trail to a magical Krušné hory viewpoint: 2 km*
One of the best viewpoints in the Krušné hory is the summit of Velký Špičák (965m), easily reached by a short nature trail from a car park near the village of Kovářská.

Routes around the historic town of Ostrov, in the foothills of the Ore Mountains: 2 km to 12 km
The mining town of Ostrov has an important place in Czech history, its attractive Renaissance/Baroque core funded by Ore Mountain silver and then blighted by Communist era uranium processing.

*A visit to Valeč chateau and park, with an optional extension to Orlík viewpoint: 2 km - 10 km*
Valeč chateau/ park is one of the best kept secrets in west Bohemia. This remarkable Baroque complex is well worth a trip. Extend the walk to visit a volcanic rock viewpoint.

A circular route starting at the open-air folk museum at Vysoký Chlumec, near Sedlčany: 13 km
The Benešov upland area (centered on the town of Sedlčany) has attractive hilly farming countryside, perfect for a quiet walk. Combine with a visit to the excellent folk museum at Vysoký Chlumec.

*Vojna prison camp and Příbram's uranium mining area (a walk everyone should do): 12 km to 15 km*
This is not a walk for the faint-hearted. It traverses terrain that saw some of the darkest moments in recent Czech history. But it is definitely worth doing - just do not expect beautiful scenery!

*An extended tour around the mining town Příbram (including the Svatá Hora pilgrimage site): 8 km*
Příbram is (arguably) the country's most important historical mining town. There is a lot to discover on this varied and interesting route around this intriguing place, including some good bistros!

A circuit from Radotín, through the new 'Golf Park Praha' and back along the Berounka river: 11 km
This flat 11 km circuit on cycle paths is suitable for strollers and includes a lovely section of riverside path beside the Berounka. There are also various good refreshment spots!

An easy 'one way' walk from Rakovník to Křivoklát along the Rakovnický potok valley: 17 km
Křivoklát royal castle is a popular destination for day trips from Prague. For an easy mid length walk, start in Rakovník, follow the cycle path and use the train for the return journey!

*A long circuit to the very best viewpoints and landmarks in and above Karlovy Vary: 23 km*
This walk attempts to capture all the best viewpoints (and cafés) in the hills ringing Karlovy Vary, in a single day trip! The route includes Goethe's and Diana's towers, Vítkův vrch and Linhart park.

*The Diana lookout and Svatý Linhart deer park trail above Karlovy Vary - 11 km*
This excellent walk first visits the famous Diana lookout tower above Karlovy Vary and then heads into the forest to visit the game reserve, returning via the spectacular Westend villa area.

A circular route to the Vítkův vrch viewpoint and restaurant from Karlovy Vary: 9 km (extendable)
The circular hike from Karlovy Vary to Vítkův vrch is a popular easy half day trip, with a great view at the top and a pleasant restaurant terrace to relax on after the climb.

*A circuit to the historic Goethe viewpoint and tower, above Karlovy Vary - 6 km*
The Goethe lookout tower is a great destination for a short hike uphill from Karlovy Vary. The tower has a fascinating (naming) history, super views and nice café. A perfect short trip!

*A circuit around the Mattoni spa area at Kyselka, near Karlovy Vary: 3 km to 10 km*
The historic spa of Kyselka is the home of the famous Mattoni mineral water. Tour the fascinating spa area (in different stages of renovation) and maybe climb up to Mattoni's lookout tower.

A short walk to the Kapučín rocks from Ležky village, just off the road to Karlovy Vary: 3 km (extendable)
Kapučín rocks, near Ležky village is a great spot to stop for a picnic if weary of the traffic on the Prague to Karlovy Vary road. There is a super view from the top!

*An easy circular route in the Králický Sněžník nature park, near Sky bridge 721: 14 km*
The Králický Sněžník nature park has many attractive hiking and cycle paths, some of which can be best accessed by using the Dolní Morava resort chair lift. This is one of the easier routes!

Sky Bridge 721: (once) the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge - a 2 km trail
Sky Bridge 721, in the Dolní Morava mountain resort was included in Time Magazine's prestigious "World's Greatest Places" list. It is worth the effort (and expense) to visit the attraction.

*Králický Sněžník (1423m) from Dolní Morava, along the Polish border trail: 24 km*
The climb to the summit of Králický Sněžník is rewarding: super views into Poland and back into the Czech lands and a nice return along the fledgling river Morava, from its source.
