Břehyňský pond and Králův stolec, a short walk from the famous U Leknínu ice cream stall: 4 km

  • One of ‘must do’ activities when touring the area around Máchovo jezero in the Kokořínsko sandstone rock area, is pay a visit to the increasingly famous ice cream stall, U Leknínu. The stall is located in a beautiful 18th century building which also offers accommodation, just outside Doksy on the road to Mimoň.
  • Many visitors just come for the ice cream – there is a nearby bus connection with Doksy or Mimoň and a small (often very busy) parking area. However, for those wanting to earn the right to taste a few of the flavors, a nice short walk in the area visits the nearby picturesque Břehyňský pond and then takes the sandy path through the forest to visit the Králův stolec rock formation. According to legend, Emperor Charles IV (who created the lakes during the 14th century) visiting the rocks during one of his hunting trips and had a table (stolec) and bench carved from the sandstone, to better enjoy his lunch!
  • The route to the rocks is easy, on forest footpaths, and is just 1.7 km from the parking area, with 30m of height to climb/descend.
