Shorter walks around Kostomlaty castle ruins at the edge of České středohoří: 4 km to 14 km
Kostomlaty castle is one of the nicer castle ruins in a region full of crumbling medieval fortresses. Extend the trip with an easy walk in the hills and forests of this attractive protected landscape.
A walk along the Bradava mill stream, starting in historic Spálené Poříčí: 6 km (extendable)
Spálené Poříčí is a small west Bohemian town, with an interesting history. Take a short walk along the attractive Bradava stream (continuing if desired into the nearby Brdy hills).
*Manětín to Nečtiny with an optional return along the Mlýnská stezka: 6 km to 13 km*
Visit the splendid Baroque chateau in Manětín, one of west Bohemia's hidden gems, and combine the trip with an excellent walk in the forests of the Manětínská nature park.
A full circuit of the northern section of Slapy reservoir, starting in Slapy village: 26 km
This long walk near scenic Slapy is unusual in that it manages to access trails on both east and west sides of the reservoir. The trails are usually quiet and there are long sections in the mixed forests.

*Circuits around the Pláň massif starting in Špindlerův Mlýn: 12 km to 22 km*
The Pláň massif is host in winter to Špindlerův Mlýn's largest ski area but in summer there are many fine hiking trails to explore. This route visits some of the best trails and mountain huts.
*A walk over Bukovec mountain to Jizerka village and the peat bog nature trail: 7 km*
The historic village of Jizerka occupies a high plateau with the lovely Jizerka stream running through it. The unique basalt mountain of Bukovec and nearby nature trail make this a fine short walk.
*Along the Czech/Slovak border ridge above Bílá, a classic Beskydy walk: 10 km to 29 km*
Various routes along the scenic border ridge above the village of Bílá can be created using bus connections at Bumbálka and Konečná, but really keen walkers should try the 29 km loop!
A winter walk around the President's game park at Lány: 5 km - 9 km
The village of Lány usually attracts tourists during the summer months to visit the park area behind the President's chateau, but the nearby forests are much quieter and also attractive in the winter months!
*Podtrosecká údolí - an 8 km flat walk along this beautiful valley*
A lovely flat 'there and back' walk along the Podtrosecká valley, which starts at Vidlák and follows the path of the Jordánka stream, through the sandstone gorge past two other small lakes
*A walk around the Söos nature reserve, with an extension to Vildštejn Castle: 2 km to 11 km*
Söos is a unique peat and mineral bog located close to Františkovy Lázně, well known for its bubbling 'mud volcanos'. Visit the reserve and then extend the trip to see the 12th century Vildštejn fortress.
A tour of the historic villages west of Kutná Hora, starting in Ratboř: 22 km
The open countryside near Kutná Hora is full of historic monuments and definitely worth exploring. This circular route mostly follows quiet country roads through the scenic villages.
*Lednice, Janův hrad and the Three Graces: a circular tour from Břeclav - 22 km*
There are many ways to explore the UNESCO listed monuments around the majestic chateau of Lednice. This excellent circular walk visits some of the top sites in the east section of the Cultural Landscape.
*A 19 km tour of the fishpond complex created by Mikuláš Ruthard, starting in Chlum u Třeboně*
This circuit is one of the more interesting routes in the Třeboňsko region as it passes not just a series of scenic ponds, but also crosses attractive pastures and through old villages.
The 'nelesní krajina' nature trail in the Šumava meadows above Kvilda: 4 km to 6 km
Kvilda is an excellent base for exploring the central Šumava area. A short nature trail exploring the development of Kvilda's hillside pastures starts from the iconic church at the village centre.
A short tour around the lovely South Bohemian town of Třeboň - 3 km
Třeboň is a jewel of a town, well worth visiting on any tour of Southern Bohemia. Start one of the longer Třeboňsko walks from here but also make time to explore this very pretty historical town.
*A 10 km circuit in eastern Prague: from Chateau Ctěnice to Jenštejn fortress*
The refurbished Ctěnice chateau, close to the Prague East village of Vinoř, is well worth a visit, as is the surrounding countryside, which is filled with important historic and prehistoric sites.
A circuit from Ostrov into the sandstone rock complexes at Tisá: 7 km - 10 km
An extended version of the classic Tiské stěny walk, through spectacular sandstone rock scenery, starting at the pretty hamlet of Ostrov, on the Cz-Germany border.
Seeking the vanished medieval village of Sekanka - a 5 km walk starting in Hradištko
An easy walk along the peninsular between the Vltava and Sázava rivers to visit the viewpoints and medieval archeological site of Sekanka, hidden in the forest at the very tip of the peninsular.
An 'out of season' visit to Manětín and the Chlumská hora (651m) viewpoint: 9 km
The Baroque chateau in Manětín is one of western Bohemia's most popular attractions. It is still worth visiting out of season, when the chateau is closed, for a quiet walk in the nearby hills.
A circuit in hills near Sázava town, starting in Stříbrná Skalice: 18 km (extendable)
This is a circular route in the hills and forests to the northwest of the famous 11th century monastery town of Sázava. It can be extended further with a 5 km loop near the river.
A visit to Kunžvart castle and the prehistoric ritual site on the slopes of Strážný (1115m): 6 km
The stone tower of Kunžvart is a remnant of possibly the highest castle in the country. It is an easy walk through attractive prehistoric forests from the Šumava border village of Strážný,
Walks around the Borek rock formations from Rovensko pod Troskami - 3 km to 8 km
This walk explores different aspects of the relatively small but interesting Borek rock region, with great views towards Trosky. The first part is suitable for baby strollers.
Two loops above the village of Orlov in the Brdy highlands - 9 km
Two short walks in the Brdy highlands above the village of Orlov; one to the Pilská reservoir, the other to the Kazatelna viewpoint, with a total distance of 9km.
Circular routes along the Labe river between Neratovice and Kostelec nad Labem: 17 km - 19 km
This nice flat circular walk between two attractive towns on the Labe, has an option to follow a riverside trail in both directions or take a cross country route through the farming villages for one leg.
A circular tour around Křížový vrch (487 m) starting at Chotěšov Monastery: 15 km
On a tour of west Bohemia, stop at the impressive 13th century monastery in Chotěšov and then perhaps explore the nearby countryside with a traverse of the hill, Křížový vrch.

A classic Český ráj circular walk through the Příhrazské skály rock city with spectacular cliff top views, visiting several medieval rock castles on the way, including Valečov.
*Mumlava - an easy walk to Bohemia's most beautiful series of waterfalls: 3 km to 12 km*
Mumlava waterfall, near Harrachov, is a deservedly popular tourist destination. It is possible to avoid the crowds by continuing up the asphalt road to view the cascades higher up the mountain.
A 9 km route around Praha (862m), the second highest peak in the Brdy highlands
Praha is the second highest peak in the Brdy highlands and offers some good viewpoints. This easy walk on wide paths is best in autumn or winter, when the trees and paths can be snowy.
A short walk along Josefovská valley to the Býčí skála cave : 3 km
The scenic Josefovská valley which starts at Adamov, is lined with many caves, old Ironworks and furnaces. The most famous cave is Býčí skála, one of the most important archaeological sites in Moravia.
A 5 km gastronomic walk from Okoř to Číčovice along the Zákolanský stream
Okoř attracts many visitors to view its dramatic Gothic castle ruins. There are also easy walks along the Zákolanský stream - this 5 km route visits two villages with fine restaurants for a long lunch.

This unusually varied and scenic hike in the hills above the Berounka river near Radnice offers excellent viewpoints in an ancient landscape and even a modern interpretation of a stone circle.
A riverside walk between Týn nad Vltavou and Koloděje nad Lužnicí: 10 km to 15 km
A pleasant walk to explore the confluence of the Vltava and Lužnice rivers near Týn nad Vltavou, with a nice riverside section to reach Mitrovicz castle at Koloděje nad Lužnicí.
Zámek Zbiroh and the rocky viewpoints around Čertova skála - a 9 km tour
The Křivoklátsko forest area around the neo-Renaissance chateau of Zbiroh is interspersed with dramatic rock formations that offer exciting viewpoints on this short adventurous circuit.
A 5km varied walk around Úvaly (with lots of gastronomic options)
The town of Úvaly, 20km to the east of Prague, has a variety of walking options available from its mainline train station including in the nearby Klánovice forest and there are some good refreshment options too!
